Description

Helvellyn is the third tallest mountain in England and its Striding Edge ridgeline is one of the most iconic scrambles in the UK. This unforgettable route is a Grade 1 scramble, making it the perfect next step for those looking to progress from hiking into the exciting world of scrambling.

A Grade 1 scramble involves steep, rocky terrain where youโ€™ll use your hands and feet to move. While itโ€™s more exposed and engaging than a standard hike, the movements are straightforward and do not require prior technical climbing experience or the use of ropes and harnesses. With expert guidance from your female Mountain Leader, youโ€™ll build confidence throughout the day.

Youโ€™ll meet at 9:00am from Glenridding Car Park. From there, youโ€™ll spend around 7โ€“9 hours on the mountain, taking in breathtaking views, learning key movement skills, and enjoying a rewarding physical challenge in a supportive environment.

Summit To Do exclusively runs women-only trips, and every trip is led by a fully qualified woman, creating an empowering environment where you can feel comfortable.

We keep our group sizes small, ensuring you receive plenty of individual support throughout the day. We also understand that Striding Edge can feel intimidating, especially if itโ€™s your first scramble. Our staff have extensive experience supporting nervous participants on this ridge, so please donโ€™t hesitate to share any concerns or fears with us in advance. Weโ€™re here to help you every step of the way.

Important travel info: Glenridding Car Park can fill up so ensure you arrive with plenty of time to find parking. Parking wardens work in this area so park carefully.

Whether youโ€™re seeking a new challenge or looking to build your mountain skills, this guided Striding Edge experience offers the perfect balance of adventure, learning, and stunning scenery.
