Description
Pavey Ark is one of the beautiful Langdale Pikes and its Jackโs Rake is one of the most iconic scrambles in the UK. This unforgettable route is a Grade 1 scramble, making it the perfect next step for those looking to progress from hiking into the exciting world of scrambling.
A Grade 1 scramble involves steep, rocky terrain where youโll use your hands and feet to move. While itโs more exposed and engaging than a standard hike, the movements are straightforward and do not require prior technical climbing experience or the use of ropes and harnesses. With expert guidance from your female Mountain Leader, youโll build confidence throughout the day.
Youโll meet at 9:00am from Great Langdale National Trust Car Park. From there, youโll spend around 3-5 hours on the mountain, taking in breathtaking views, learning key movement skills, and enjoying a rewarding physical challenge in a supportive environment.
Summit To Do exclusively runs women-only trips, and every trip is led by a fully qualified woman, creating an empowering environment where you can feel comfortable.
We keep our group sizes small, ensuring you receive plenty of individual support throughout the day. We also understand that Jackโs Rake can feel intimidating, especially if itโs your first scramble. Our staff have extensive experience supporting nervous participants on this ridge, so please donโt hesitate to share any concerns or fears with us in advance. Weโre here to help you every step of the way.
Important travel info: If the Great Langale National Trust Car Park is full, there is an overflow car park in the field opposite the pub.
Whether youโre seeking a new challenge or looking to build your mountain skills, this guided Jackโs Rake experience offers the perfect balance of adventure, learning, and stunning scenery.
